Quick answer

A dump truck load board is a site or app where contractors and material producers post hauling jobs for dump trucks to bid on or claim, such as DumpTruckLoads.com, Soil Connect or TRUX. General freight boards carry few dump loads. Most dump work still comes from pits, plants and contractors who keep a list of trucks they trust.

Owners ask for "a DAT for dump trucks" all the time. I'm Steve Woods, a truck dispatcher at TruckSprint with 9 years in trucking. Here's the honest picture: what the dump-specific platforms say they do, when a general board helps, and how the steady work is really handed out.

Why dump work isn't on freight boards

Freight boards match a load from A to B with a truck that has room. Dump work rarely looks like that. It's a contractor needing six tri-axles for a day, a plant needing aggregate hauled in all week, or a site that wants dirt gone by the hour. The customer cares who shows up every morning, not who bids lowest on one trip. That's why most of it moves by phone and contractor lists.

Dump truck load boards and apps

These platforms are built for dump and material hauling. Each description comes from the company's own page, read October 27, 2026; they're its claims, not ours. Listed alphabetically, not ranked.

PlatformWhat it says it does
DumpTruckLoads.comCalls itself a dump truck load board and network; contractors, producers, disposal sites and brokers post projects; truck owners bid; says it is 100% free to use.
Soil ConnectA marketplace for dirt and aggregates with a hauler app and digital load tracking; free hauler registration; says haulers can be paid in as little as 24 hours. No hauler fees stated.
TRUXA dump truck hauling app and marketplace with digital load slips and automated invoicing; a customer quote on its page says haulers are paid weekly. No fee structure published.

Before you sign up for any of them, ask four questions:

  1. Who pays you? The contractor directly, or the platform? A platform that pays you is acting as your customer, so its credit matters.
  2. What does it take? A subscription, a cut of each job, or nothing. Get it in writing.
  3. What paperwork does it need? Insurance certificate, W-9, and often its own digital ticket in place of paper.
  4. Who sets the rate? Bidding, a posted rate, or the platform's rate card.

Free dump truck load boards

DumpTruckLoads.com says it's 100% free to use, and Soil Connect offers free hauler registration. Free to join isn't the same as free to work: a platform can earn its money from the contractor, from a margin on the job, or from paid features later. Read the terms for each job you take.

End dump load boards: when a general board helps

A semi end dump is the dump setup closest to freight. It can haul bulk loads beyond construction, and some brokers post them on general boards. If you run one, search your area on a general board before you pay for a plan, and judge by what you actually see posted.

DAT's own pricing page listed its carrier plans from $59 to $339 a month when we checked:

For straight dump trucks, a freight board subscription is usually money better spent on fuel to visit pits. The full comparison of freight boards is in best load boards.

Where dump truck work is really posted

  • Pits and quarries. Many keep a list of trucks to send their customers. Ask the scale house who to talk to.
  • Ready-mix, asphalt and recycling plants. Steady inbound material hauling during the season.
  • Site-work, paving and utility contractors. They hire extra trucks for a pour, a grade or a paving push, and call back the ones who showed up.
  • Prime contractors on public jobs. State DOT and city projects run through primes, who need subs and sometimes certified small businesses. Public work can come with prevailing wage rules.
  • Brokers who specialize in dump trucks. They hold the contractor relationships and take a cut; know the rate and the pay terms before the first load.

How to turn those into contracts, bids and steady seasons is the subject of dump truck contracts.

How to get on contractor lists

  1. Have the paperwork ready before you call: USDOT number and authority if you need it, insurance certificate, W-9, and the right CDL for your truck.
  2. Visit in person. Scale houses, plant offices and contractor yards early in the morning, with a one-page sheet: your truck setup, legal tons, phone and insurance.
  3. Be clear about your truck. Axles, body size and legal payload; the types of dump trucks chart helps you describe it in their terms.
  4. Start with fill-in days. Say yes to the short-notice job. That's how you get the next call.
  5. Keep clean tickets. Signed, legible, matched to scale tickets. Our free haul ticket template has every field contractors check.
  6. Consider DBE certification if you qualify and want federal-aid highway work.

On the DBE rule, the federal regulation is specific about trucking:

Source: 49 CFR 26.55(d): A DBE trucking firm must manage and supervise its trucking operation on the contract and itself own and operate at least one fully licensed, insured, operational truck used on it; it gets credit for services using trucks it owns, insures and operates with drivers it employs. · checked 2026-10

TruckSprint no longer dispatches dump trucks. Box trucks are different: freight for a 26 ft box truck really is on the boards, and that's a truck our desk dispatches.

Questions carriers ask

Is there a load board for dump trucks?

Yes, a few platforms are built for dump work, such as DumpTruckLoads.com, Soil Connect and TRUX, where contractors and producers post hauling jobs. They work differently from freight boards, and most local dump work still comes straight from pits, plants and contractors.

Are there free dump truck load boards?

DumpTruckLoads.com says it is 100% free to use, and Soil Connect offers free hauler registration. Check each platform's current terms, including any fees taken from the job, before you count on free.

Can I find end dump loads on DAT or Truckstop?

Sometimes. General freight boards are built for vans, reefers and flatbeds, and dump trailer posts are thin. If you run a semi end dump, search your area before you pay for a plan. For straight dump trucks, local relationships pay off far more than a subscription.

How do dump truck owner operators find work?

Mostly through pits and quarries, ready-mix and asphalt plants, site-work and paving contractors, and prime contractors on public jobs. Dump job apps add more. Show up on time, keep clean tickets and get asked back; that's how a contractor list turns into steady work.

Should I get DBE certified?

If you qualify and want public highway work, it can help: prime contractors on federally funded jobs look for DBE subs. The rule for trucking is strict. You must manage the operation and own and run at least one licensed, insured truck on the contract (49 CFR 26.55(d)).
