Every guide, dictionary entry and calculator on trucksprint.com is written for owner-operators and small fleets, researched from primary sources, and reviewed by Steve Woods, who leads our dispatch desk.
Primary sources first
Rules and limits come from the agencies that set them, and we link the source next to the figure:
- FMCSA and the eCFR for registration, CDL, hours of service, insurance, drug testing and safety rules
- FHWA and 23 CFR 658 for federal size and weight limits and the bridge formula
- State DOTs and DMVs for state rules, permits and intrastate requirements
- PHMSA for hazardous materials
- BLS, EIA, IRS, USDA and FDA for wages, fuel, tax and food transport rules
- Manufacturers' own published specs for equipment
Dates on everything
Every limit, rate and statistic shows the date we checked it. We review guides at least once a year, and sooner when a rule changes.
Examples are labeled
Rates, loads and weeks used to explain the math are labeled EXAMPLE. They're realistic, but they aren't market data or results. When we don't have a reliable source for a number, we say so instead of inventing one.
No invented proof
We don't publish made-up reviews, testimonials, statistics or rankings. Products and companies are described from their own published information, with the date.
Independence from partners
Partners don't write or edit our guides, and payment doesn't buy placement in our content. See the disclosure for the partner relationships we have.
Corrections
Spot something wrong or out of date? Tell us through the contact page with the page and the source. We check it, fix it if we got it wrong, and update the date.
